Angles part 2

When given the words, "one is twice as large as the other", you know what the first angle is by making a formula. for example, 2a=b. If it said that one is five times bigger than the other your formula would be, b+5a=a+5b. You know when to assign a variable to something when you don't know the measure of it. Corresponding angles are congruent because they are the same location just on different parallel lines. But this does not mean that they are vertical because to be vertical they have to be across from each other. Congruent means the same, vertical angles are congruent because they have the same degrees. supplementary angles are not congruent because they have different measures that can only add up to 180. Two angles cannot be supplementary and corresponding because supplementary angles have to be on a straight line right next to each other. Also two angles cant be vertical and corresponding because corresponding angles are not across from each other. The four angles that are formed around a line and a transversal equal to 360 degrees. This is always the case because that shape is a quadrilateral and every quadrilateral equals 360 degrees.

Angles part 1

You know when to set an equation equal to 90 or 180 degrees by looking at the angles, if the angle is a right angle its 90 degrees and the angle is a straight line, it is 180 degrees. When you set angles equal to each other it means that the two angles are vertical or congruent. If you were sovling a problem and u only solved for x, you arent correctly solving the problem because you still haven't found the measure of the angle your still missing one step. Congruent means the same and vertical angles are congruent because they are right across from each other and have the same measure. Complementary angles and supplementary angles are not congruent because they don't always have equal measures. Another type of angles that are congruent are corresponding because they are on the same location on different parallel lines.

Vertical Angles

Congruent means to have the same measure. You know you have vertical angles when the are separated by intersecting lines and are congruent to each other. A quadrilateral is a shape that has 4 sides. and it cannot have more than 4 sides or it wouldn't be a quadrilateral. If you only had one angle in a intersecting quadrilateral you can find the other angles by first finding the vertical angle of the one you already know, which will be the same so you add those 2  together and then you take the sum and subtract it from 360 then you take that number and divide it by 2 and that will give u each of the remaining angles.

Pythagorean Theorem wrap up

I believe that you can use the pythagorean theorem in real life to build things. For example, if your grandmother is in a wheel chair and she's living in your house, to make transportation easier for her you can build her a wheel chair ramp. A wheel chair ramp is shaped like a wedge and if you look at it from the side you can see a right triangle and also a right angleBefore you build the ramp you need to measure the height and the width or the legs. Therefore if you use the PT - a^2+b^2=c^2 to determine the hypotenuse you will be able to know how far down the ramp will go.
